The important bit is this:
Where you reward matters.
If you want your dog beside you, deliver the reward beside you.
If every treat appears out in front, you are accidentally giving your dog a very good reason to hang out in front.
Use your marker when your dog is in the Target Zone, then reward them there.
Quite simply:
Reward where you want your dog to be.
ONE COMMON MISTAKE: HOLDING THE DOG IN POSITION
Try not to hold your dog beside you on a short, tight lead.
Loose lead walking requires the lead to actually be loose.
You’re trying to teach your dog to choose to walk with you, rather than physically keeping them in position.
Those are two very different things.
